Super nice staff. Yummy food. Lots of options for vegetarian and not. And they were open at 7pm.on a Tuesday when the rest of Dunedin eateries were shut!!

Who knew dosas were actually Indonesian? And chicken 65 was invented in, well, 65? Thanks to my trusty bestie Nithin, I've got a whole new appreciation for culinary history. But let's talk about Dosa Etc. The place has a warm vibe, like a hug from a friendly neighbour. The staff? Absolute gems. They're so nice, you'd think they were relatives. So, top marks for hospitality. Now, the food... Ah, the food. It's Dunedin, after all. Let’s just say it’s a work in progress. The dosa was crispy, sure, but flavor-wise, it was okay-ish – nice, but not exactly exhilarating. They tried to spice things up with the green chillies, but it was more bitter than fiery. The cheese dosa was the MVP of the meal. masala dosa was like a comforting hug in edible form. One major plot twist: no salt on the table. I mean, c'mon! It's like giving monkey me an inverted bike. But the coffee? Oh, that was a revelation. It was like liquid sunshine, warming my soul and awakening my taste buds. So, would I go back? For the coffee, absolutely. For the food? Maybe. So far the best and authentic South Indian restaurant in New Zealand. Everything time we visit Dunedin we head straight to dosa etc. the idli’s are exceptionally soft and the chutney and sambhar are very delicious. Highly recommended this place if you’re ever visiting Dunedin. Friendly and polite staff. Lots to choose from and everything tastes great. ( we have tried most of the items on the menu ☺️ Please open and branch is Wellington ☺️

I always love the light soft fluffiness of their Idli, and the coconut chutney is so flavoursome. I love coming here to get reliably delicious, healthy, gut friendly fermented food. The excellent quality & consistency of this culinary team is fantastic. (I love their other dishes such as Vada & Masala Dosa also) Great for gluten free vegan people, and everyone.
